Roy M. Brown Papers, 1924-1956

Roy M. (Roy Melton) Brown held various administrative positions in North Carolina state public welfare agencies, 1921-1934, and was director of the Division of Public Welfare and Social Work (now the School of Social Work), University of North Carolina, 1936-1945. The collection includes correspondence with professional colleagues concerning public issues, social work training, the North Carolina Rural Rehabilitation Corporation, the North Carolina Commission on Interracial Cooperation, and the compiling of information from North Carolina counties for a history of public aid to the poor.
